Evening Benediction: The Great Exchange

by | Poems-Benedictions-Intentions, Reciprocal Feeding

Benediction drawing from the ancient understanding of mercy as sacred commerce between the finite and the infinite.

The Great Exchange

May you rest knowing each breath tonight
is gift flowing toward you,
each exhale your offering back
to the source of all being.

May you sleep held in the great exchange
where “I AM” and “have mercy”
become one prayer,
one movement of the heart.

May your deepest sense of self
and your deepest surrender
discover they are one.

May mercy find you in the breathing,
the endless commerce,
how you empty yourself
to receive yourself back.

Amen.

William Britten
