Evening Benediction: Conscious Presence

by | Poems-Benedictions-Intentions, Attention, Cynthia Bourgeault

from the teachings of Cynthia Bourgeault on conscious presence

The Wide Space of Present Moment

May you rest knowing
that today you practiced
the hardest thing:
standing inside yourself.

May the moments when attention
was not lost to its object
but held free and present
have opened wider space.

May you trust that learning
to witness without dissolving,
to love without disappearing,
builds the ground for tomorrow’s presence.

May your body-rooted awareness—
that quiet solar place
that watches even dreams—
anchor you through sleep.

May free attention become
your natural inheritance,
and conscious love
your gift.

Amen.

William Britten
